DSAM initiated and held the inaugural meeting of Presidents of Direct Selling Associations (DSAs) of Asean countries on 15th October 2012 in Petaling Jaya. This meeting was attended by the Presidents and representatives from Asosiasi Penjualan Langsung Indonesia (APLI), Direct Selling Association of Philippines (DSAP), Thai Direct Selling Association (TDSA) and DSAM. The WFDSA was represented by Ms Melisa Quijano, who is in the Asia Pacific Association Advisory Council. The purpose of this initiative is to increase cooperation and sharing of information among Asean DSAs. It is also to share Best Practices; address common issues, challenges and opportunities facing the industry; create a stronger voice in the region with our respective governments; and encourage and facilitate our respective members to go regional.
At the conclusion of this meeting, two resolutions were approved : First, to proceed with the formation of a working committee within the next year among all Asean DSAs affiliated with WFDSA. Second, to foster closer working relationship through information sharing and providing assistance to new companies from the region.
The next meeting shall be held in Kuala Lumpur in March 2013.
